What is Squeezing the muscles?

Can someone please explain what this means? I have read guys that say “squeeze the muscles instead of just lifting the weight”

  1. Squeezing the muscle is a method of weight lifting that allows you to get the most muscular contraction out of every rep.

Before training a particular muscle group, perform an “intensity set.” Take the bench press as an example. Take an empty bar and start performing the exercise completing each rep very slowly, keeping constant tension on the working muscle throughout the full range of motion. Never relax, not even for an instant.

Once you contract the muscle, hold it as tight as you can, then pull it back to the starting position with the opposing muscle group. You must make the exercise so intense that the muscle wants to give out after 12 or 15 reps.

You must put this same concentration into every rep of every set you do.

This is a method that will take some time and practice to get fully grasp but once learned it’ll change the way you train forever.
