Juliette,
Sprinting is more anaerobic than aerobic, as such it does not directly use oxygen/glycogen/fat as a fuel source. However, to improve "condition" you prolly did experience fat loss, but the increase in muscle mass would have meant little if any weight loss.

Muscles mass increases metabolism, to rely only one or 2 of the 3 main fat-loss methods is not a good idea.

You need to combine anaerobic exercise with aerobic exercise and correct diet (moderate protein, low carbs, low fat)

by combining all 3 elements, you ensure your metabolism (maintained/increased through muscle mass) does not diminish in the face of a negative calorie balance which is esential for losing fat.

Hope that helps.
Cheers
Pete

To speed up your metabolism omit eating large meal portions instead eat more often by eating frequent sensible mini-meals every 3-4 hours. This will help you to avoid overeating. Cut your portions in half, drink a full glass of room temperature water a half hour before each meal and a half hour after. If in between meals you feel a little hunger pang coming on then drink another full glass of water. This will help to give you that full feeling you are accustomed to.

I trained for 2 years with a sprinter Nelli Cooman (she was worldrecordholder 60 m indoor) and I experienced no fatloss with the sprinting, only better condition.

I stick to 45 minutes jogging or other cardio in a steady tempo, this works for me the best and the people who I advice to do this all loose fat as long they also keep a diet.
