Is there an ideal time of day for supplements?

I’ve heard a lot of different stories about what time is best to take vitamins & supplements. Is there an ideal time of the day for taking vitamins or food supplements?

  1. In fact there actually is an ideal time to take supplements.

First thing in the morning is the best time to take your multi vitamin mineral supplement. I also add Glutamine and a serving of protein powder to my oatmeal after it has been cooked.

The reason for this is very simple. The word Breakfast means a “Break from a Fast”. You have fasted for 8 or more hours while you slept. The stomach is empty and ready to be filled. It is at this time that the majority of foods you consume will be quickly and readily absorbed. As the day progresses and foods accumulate in the digestive tract you will not get as much complete absorbtion as you did earlier in the day.

Continue to take your supplements throughout the day, just realize that the opportunity for the most utilization of supplementation is first thing in the morning.
