How long does it take to gain muscle?

I just started working out a few weeks ago. Roughly how long will it take before I am able to gain a decent amount of muscle?

  1. If you are training in a sensable, progressive training program you can expect no less than 2 to 4 pounds of new muscle every 5 weeks or so. Just remember that the actual lifting of weight in the gym tears the muscle down, its the proper nutrition and rest that will build the muscle stronger, bigger and better. Train no more than 3 times a week, eat at least 5 meals a day and get 8 hours of sound sleep every night. Follow these rules and you cannot fail!!

  2. I would like to leave just one fact…in regards to hypertrophy. If you a natural bodybuilder, and you are dedicated to proper training and nutrition…you can as a male only expect 1-lb of muscle per month…as a female only a 1/2 lb. This is science and we (as a natural bodybuilder) cannot change. There are some supplements that I have done clinical reasearch on that do help with nitrogen balance, and muscle repair. So when someone tells you that you can gain 3-5 lbs of muscle in 4-5 weeks…remember not naturally!!
